We support organisations across defence, national security and critical industries to deploy AI responsibly and securely.
We're growing our team and looking for a 3D Modelling Engineer to help create the realistic 3D environments that power our AI and computer vision work.
Role Overview
We are looking for a 3D Modelling Engineer to help create realistic 3D environments for AI and computer vision applications.
You will use Blender, Unreal Engine or similar tools to build and adapt 3D scenes, generate synthetic datasets and support the automation of modelling workflows.
This role is suited to someone with strong practical 3D modelling skills, some familiarity with Python, and an interest in developing their knowledge of AI, machine learning and synthetic data — including talented recent graduates.
Security Requirements
Applicants must be willing and eligible to undergo UK Security Clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and adapt 3D environments and scenes using Blender, Unreal Engine or equivalent tools.
- Configure scenes, assets, materials, lighting and cameras.
- Create realistic variations in environments, viewpoints and conditions.
- Apply practical UV unwrapping, texture baking and procedural asset-generation techniques.
- Use Python or platform scripting tools to support automation.
- Generate synthetic data outputs for AI and computer vision projects.
- Work with AI and machine learning engineers to meet dataset requirements.
- Optimise scenes, rendering performance and modelling workflows.
- Document modelling workflows to ensure they are repeatable.
Requirements
- Experience with Blender, Unreal Engine or another 3D modelling tool — professional, academic, or through strong personal projects (recent graduates welcome).
- Strong practical knowledge of 3D scene construction, materials, lighting and camera setup.
- Experience working with complex 3D assets and environments.
- Familiarity with Python or similar scripting tools.
- Understanding of PBR, textures and UV workflows.
- Experience optimising scenes or rendering workflows.
- Interest in AI, machine learning and computer vision.
- Good communication, documentation and version‑control skills.
- Ability to work independently on defined technical tasks.
- Nice to Have
- Experience generating synthetic imagery or datasets.
- Experience with texture baking, procedural asset generation or advanced UV workflows.
- Familiarity with segmentation masks, depth maps or annotation outputs.
- Experience with procedural generation or domain randomisation.
- Knowledge of camera, sensor, weather or environmental simulation.
- Experience in defence, security or another regulated sector.
- Experience with advanced lighting, asset creation, shaders or C++.
- The opportunity to apply 3D modelling skills to real-world AI projects.
- Collaboration with specialists across AI, computer vision and software engineering.
- Support to develop your synthetic‑data and machine‑learning knowledge.
- Flexible hybrid working.
- Salary of up to £55,000, depending on experience.
- Opportunities for professional development and progression.
