At Adur & Worthing, we are committed to taking an entrepreneurial and commercial approach to serving our communities and managing the built estate as well as possible. We are responsible for driving income to support essential council services.
Are you an RICS qualified surveyor looking to get involved helping to direct and manage a local estate and assist with a national strategic property fund? Have you considered a better work/life balance working with committed people and across a diverse and interesting estate?
We are looking for an exceptional senior asset manager to work in the Property & Investment Team. The councils have significant holdings of community and commercial property. We want to maximise value from these assets while updating our compliance with forthcoming environmental standards and ensuring our properties are safe and resilient.
The Adur District and Worthing Borough area provides a unique breadth of opportunity, as we own a wide variety of property types, from the Pier to offices, cafes, shops, industrial units, land and lots more besides. You will have experience of disposals, and exposure to both SME and large businesses as tenants.
You will also relish the chance to get involved in Fund and community assets working alongside our property managers to drive participation and value for our communities. This is an environment in which your positive attitude and commercial skills will flourish.
We will want you to gain rapid understanding of parts of the portfolio that require your attention, deal with outstanding issues and lead the Assistant Asset Manager, working with other departments. Adur and Worthing Councils are shortly to merge with others and a larger team will take on a wider range of property types, so we see this as a career opportunity.
In this diverse role, you will be working with a high-performing professional team. We are therefore looking for someone with adaptability, initiative, communication skills, and calm under pressure. This is a supportive and collaborative team that values work being done in a timely fashion and will help you to deliver, and grow.
We look forward to you being an instrumental part of our ambitious vision for transforming this dynamic, waterfront area, bringing more growth and prosperity to the people of Adur & Worthing by making the assets we own compliant, income producing and/or of immense value to the community.
At Adur & Worthing, we are committed to supporting care leavers, in accordance with the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017. To that end, we operate a guaranteed interview scheme for anyone meeting the essential criteria of the role they are applying for. In order to be considered for this, you will need to be a care leaver under the age of 25 at the time of application.
As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of applicants declaring a disability, that meet the essential criteria for this position, will be offered an interview.
Staff are our most important asset and we therefore have a benefit package which reflects our continuing commitment to our employees. This includes:
- Generous leave entitlement; a minimum of 26 days + Bank Holiday entitlement
- Local Government Pension
- Training & development
- Occupational Health
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
- Employee resource groups/networks
- Buddy Support Programme
- Flexible working options
We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community - a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit. Staff work in a supportive and safe environment, recognising their responsibility to value and respect each other’s contributions. Standards of conduct must be of the highest level to ensure that no-one is harassed, bullied or victimised. We offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, staff engagement forums and are keen to hear from applicants from a variety of different backgrounds.
