The opportunity:

Are you an experienced HR generalist looking for a role in local government during a period of considerable transformation? Adur & Worthing Councils are seeking a proactive and versatile HR Officer to join our small, friendly team. This is an exciting time for Adur & Worthing as we prepare for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) - one of the most significant organisational change programmes in the Councils’ history.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • You will be at the heart of our HR service, providing essential support across the employee lifecycle.
  • This role is uniquely positioned to drive improvements in our workforce data capabilities and champion our learning and development initiatives.
  • You will take ownership of our workforce datasets, ensuring data integrity and building and producing insightful reports and dashboards that empower our leadership to make evidence-based decisions.
  • You will also be a key contributor to our Learning and Development function, ensuring our teams have the skills they need to thrive.
  • You will contribute to the effective administration of the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, payroll processing, and providing first-line guidance to managers and employees.

We are looking for someone with solid experience in operational HR processes, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. You will build strong relationships easily and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, political environment, where collaboration is key to delivering results.
