We are looking for an energetic and committed Driver / Operative to join our new Food Waste Service team. The post holder will be responsible for driving a HGV kerbside vehicle and loading within a team of 3 refuse operatives, ensuring a quality kerbside service in the Adur and Worthing areas.

Training will be given in basic health and safety and manual handling.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will need to hold a Category C1 (7.5t licence) with no more than three penalty points and a valid CPC qualification/Card.

SALARY: £28,598 - £31,022 per annum (Grade 4)

LOCATION: Worthing, West Sussex

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday

In September 2026 we will be launching our Domestic Food Waste collection service to comply with the government’s Simpler Recycling regulations, which aim to create greater consistency in the way recycling is collected across the country, keeping our local environment clean and safe whilst also reducing volumes going to landfill.

  • Hold Category C1 (7.5t licence) with no more than three penalty points and a valid CPC qualification/Card (ESSENTIAL)
  • Are able to demonstrate experience of working in waste management and dealing with the general public

  • Enjoy working outdoors in all weathers and as part of a team
  • Are reliable, punctual and safety conscious
  • Have a positive can-do attitude and are willing to learn
  • Bring a unique perspective and transferable skills
