What you'll be doing:

  • Help people feel safe and supported in their own homes by providing a vital emergency alarm and telecare service across Adur, Worthing and Mid Sussex.
  • As a Community Alarm Officer, you’ll be part of a caring team that supports residents who may be older, disabled or vulnerable to live independently and with confidence.
  • You’ll help set up and maintain alarm equipment, respond to calls for support, and build trusting relationships with people in their own homes.
  • This is a practical, people-focused role where your work makes a real difference every day.
  • Accept referrals and set up new community alarm cases.
  • Visit residents at home to demonstrate and install alarm equipment.
  • Help people understand how the service works and complete paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate records using digital systems and databases.
  • Carry out routine maintenance checks on alarm equipment.
  • Respond to mobile alarm calls during working hours.
  • Work as part of a rota to provide reliable office cover.

What we’re looking for:

  • A caring, professional approach and a genuine commitment to supporting people.
  • Confidence communicating with a wide range of people, including those with disabilities.
  • Good basic IT and administration skills.
  • The ability to work calmly and sensitively in challenging situations.
  • A team-player who is reliable, adaptable and organised.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car for work.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Experience working with older people or vulnerable adults (paid or voluntary).
  • An understanding of telecare equipment or mobile technology.
