Job Title: Female Personal Assistant - Social Care
Hours: 22 hours per week various days to be arranged with the employer, flexibility required.
Rate of Pay: Β£14.50 per hour
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1
Lindsay lives in the centre of Newcastle. She is looking for a personal assistant to support her with daily living and to expand her horizons. She is a friendly, chatty person by nature who would describe herself as an enthusiastic baker, who is always keen to bake favourites or try out new recipes. Lindsay is naturally adventurous, and loves challenging herself bytrying new things. So whilst her regular activities include: baking/cooking, attending creative writing classes, jazz (sax) lessons and rock-climbing, she is also keen to return to other activities such as snow-sports, kayaking and wildlife. A successful candidate has to be ready for any new challenges that come our way (maybe singing, dancing, art, or language classes), whilst also being able to help Lindsay day-to-day with activities such as cooking/baking, cleaning, laundry, managing medications/medical appointments, helping Lindsay to activities by planning routes/transport.
The successful candidate must have at least basic IT skills as her brain injuries mean that Lindsay struggles greatly with all tasks involving modern technology, such as online shopping/email.
A driver with a full UK driving licence would be advantageous and you must hold business insurance with your car insurance agent. Part of the role will involve day trips and may involve excursions/adventures.
As Lindsay's personal assistant, your job will be to provide the domestic and social assistance that she needs to enable her to live in the way she wants to. You must be able to respect her privacy and understand the need for confidentiality in all areas of your work. Lindsay is looking for somebody who is enthusiastic and pro-active and flexible in their work, with a sense of humour. Previous experience of working with brain injuries/visual impairment would be beneficial.
Post subject to references and DBS check.
There is a genuine occupational requirement for the holder of this post to be female in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and Equality Act 2010 schedule 9 paragraphs 1 - 4.
