A fulfilling and exciting opportunity has become available for a support worker post in our young persons service in Chesterfield. The young people in our service may have left foster care, care homes, experienced family breakdowns or may be seeking asylum, and require a robust support network around them to empower them to gain independence.
Adullam Homes Housing Association Ltd supports vulnerable individuals and households. We provide quality housing, deliver tailored support plans, training, education, and employment opportunities to help people achieve stable lives and realise their full potential.
Purpose of the role
You will be a vital member of the team, guiding these young people to gain the confidence and necessary skills to move on to independent accommodation. This will include developing and delivering a nurturing person-centred support to suit the needs of everyone accessing the service. You will help them to gain skills such as budgeting, maintaining their accommodation and cooking; guiding young people to make safe choices, to look after their mental and physical health and engage young people in education and encourage them to fulfil their potential. The support should assist young people in developing the skills required to overcome barriers and learn skills towards independence. The post holder must be empathetic, knowledgeable and professional in understanding the specific needs of young people transitioning into adulthood. You will be expected to contribute to the maintenance and development of the Associations values, culture and ethos.
