A fulfilling and exciting opportunity has become available for a support worker (Service Coordinator) post in our young people’s service in Oadby, Leicestershire. The young people in our service may have left foster care, care homes, experienced family breakdowns or may be seeking asylum, and require a robust support network around them to empower them to gain independence.

Purpose of the role

You will be a vital member of the team, guiding these young people to gain the confidence and necessary skills to move on to independent accommodation. You will help them gain skills such as budgeting, maintaining their accommodation and cooking; guiding young people to make safe choices, to look after their mental and physical health and engage them in education and encourage them to fulfil their potential. The support should assist young people in developing the skills required to overcome barriers and learn skills towards independence. The post holder must be empathetic, knowledgeable and professional in understanding the specific needs of young people transitioning into adulthood. You will be expected to contribute to the maintenance and development of the Association’s values, culture and ethos.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience working with young people in care or foster settings, or with vulnerable individuals.
  • Empathetic, knowledgeable and professional approach to supporting youths transitioning into adulthood.
  • Supported by DBS checks: Enhanced with Barred List Adult and Child, scrutiny of employment history and robust references checks.
