Adsyst Automation Ltd has been providing complex Control Systems for Process Control, Automation, and Telemetry to customers worldwide for over 35 years. We have four offices nationally: our Head office in Yateley, Hampshire, our Stafford office, and two additional offices in Peterborough and Greater London.

With core skills in PLC, SCADA, HMI, MIS, MES, RTU, control system software engineering, data acquisition, bespoke software, LV Assemblies, and Electrical installation, our expertise allows us to offer full turnkey solutions.

Job Description

We are currently seeking hardworking, resourceful candidates to join our dynamic team at our Yateley office (GU46 7AA) as an Apprentice Control Systems Engineer. This role involves the full life cycle delivery of control system projects, including software design, implementation, testing, and on-site commissioning where necessary.

The successful candidate will receive training and mentoring, gaining experience and knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, HMI, variable speed drives, and instrumentation.

The apprenticeship will be run through Farnborough College of Technology on a day release, with the course being Level 4 Automation and Controls Engineering Technician:

Level 4 Automation and Controls Engineering Technician

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Reading design specifications and technical drawings
  2. Assisting with the creation of detailed functional design specifications (FDS)
  3. Configuration of control system architecture and network connections
  4. Production, modification, and testing of SCADA & PLC software
  5. Site installation and commissioning
  6. Customer-facing position

Whilst the majority of the work will be within standard working hours, this operational role requires flexibility and may occasionally require travel to sites, which might include an overnight stay.

Entry requirements & Skills:

The successful candidate will have a strong interest in Control System Engineering, requiring a self-motivated, practical problem solver with good communication, IT, and English literacy skills. Ideally, the candidate will need to have a full UK licence or be learning to drive due to the nature of the site-based work.

You will need to be proactive and a flexible team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and will take a methodical approach to tasks, ensuring attention to detail. Entry requirements include:

  1. GCSEs grade C/4 or above including Maths and English
  2. Level 3 Qualification in Engineering and Manufacturing
  3. Good verbal and written communication
  4. Self-motivated and ambitious with a real interest in driving your career forward in the automation industry
  5. Must be eligible to work in the UK
