Support ADSS to strengthen communications so people with dementia in Kent & Medway can access vital support. Help manage social media, website content, and campaigns, promote events, track engagement, and maintain records—gaining hands-on marketing experience in a supportive team.

This role will help ADSS reach more people living with dementia and their carers across Kent and Medway by making our information clearer, more visible, and easier to access. Strong, consistent communications ensure people understand what support is available and how to connect with it at the right time. By supporting our website, social media, and campaigns, the volunteer will directly contribute to reducing barriers to support and increasing awareness of dementia services in the community.

The volunteer’s input will strengthen our online presence and help us share the real impact of our work. By helping to tell stories, promote services and events, and monitor engagement, they will enable ADSS to communicate more effectively with service users, families, professionals, and partners. This increased visibility supports earlier access to help, encourages community understanding of dementia, and helps build stronger connections with stakeholders.

Their support will also increase the capacity of our small team. By assisting with content creation, digital updates, and communications administration, the volunteer will allow staff to focus more time on direct support services while ensuring communications remain timely, accurate, and engaging. This contribution helps us operate more efficiently and respond more quickly to the needs of the people we support.

What will you be doing?

The volunteer will play a key role in helping ADSS communicate clearly, consistently, and creatively with the people we support and the wider community. Working closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager, the volunteer will help bring our messages to life and ensure our information is easy to find, engaging, and dementia-friendly.

A core part of the role is supporting day-to-day communications activity. This includes helping staff turn their work and impact into clear stories for our website, newsletters, and social media channels. The volunteer will assist with drafting, scheduling, and monitoring content, as well as suggesting ideas to keep our communications fresh and relevant. They will also help promote events, projects, and campaigns, ensuring key messages reach the right audiences at the right time.

Social media support is a priority task. The volunteer will help manage our social media channels by creating posts, scheduling content, responding appropriately to engagement, and carrying out basic reporting using analytics tools. They will also help research how similar organisations communicate online and share insights or examples of good practice with the team.

The volunteer will also support the maintenance and development of the ADSS website. This includes keeping information up to date, checking content for clarity and accessibility, and ensuring it remains dementia-friendly. They may help maintain a central events calendar, update enquiry-related content, and work with staff or service users to ensure the website reflects real needs and experiences.

Alongside communications work, the volunteer will provide administrative support linked to marketing and engagement. This may include helping to maintain membership records using Salesforce, supporting communications for external events such as the AGM or fundraising activities, and handling information sensitively in line with GDPR and organisational policies.

ADSS is led by a Senior Leadership Team, with the Marketing and Communications function supporting colleagues across the organisation. The volunteer will work collaboratively with staff, other volunteers, and external partners, contributing ideas while also learning from a supportive, experienced team. The key priorities of the role are to strengthen ADSS’s online presence, support effective communication with stakeholders, and help ensure people living with dementia and their carers can easily access the support they need.
