We are seeking a highly motivated Senior CAD Programmer.
Role Profile:The Senior CAD/CAM Programmer is a technical leader and mentor responsible for producing high quality, dimensionally accurate engineering drawings and CNC programs for sheet metal fabrication. This role combines advanced programming expertise with the coaching and support of programmers and new starters. The Senior Programmer ensures efficient, high quality production, troubleshoots technical challenges, identifies opportunities for process improvement, and drives the team to meet job deadlines while maintaining the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead, coach, and mentor CAD/CAM Programmers and new starters, fostering technical development and knowledge sharing.
- Act as the go-to technical expert for complex designs, CNC programming challenges, and process issues.
- Create, review, and optimise CAD/CAM flat pattern drawings in line with client specifications.
- Develop and refine CNC programs for laser cutting and press brake operations to maximise efficiency and minimise material waste.
- Produce folding, forming, and assembly instructions for fabrication teams.
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements to streamline programming and manufacturing workflows and support on-time job completion.
- Maintain drawing control systems, program records, and documentation for standardisation.
- Collaborate closely with fabrication teams to resolve technical challenges in bending, welding, and assembly processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, process innovation, and standardisation across the programming team.
- Provide excellent client service and support to internal and external stakeholders.
- Extensive experience in CNC programming and sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, with strong sheet metal design experience essential.
- Ability to read, interpret, and create CAD drawings for manufacturing.
- Proven experience mentoring, training, and supporting junior programmers and new starters.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Focused on process efficiency, job timing, and meeting production deadlines.
- Experience with Oseon / Lantek or similar CAD/CAM software desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail, quality driven, and process oriented.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong communication, leadership, and team-working skills.
