We are looking to appoint a motivated and talented Paint Operative.

Role Profile: To carry out paint preparation, coating, and finishing processes on sheet metal components ranging from small to large fabrications. The role ensures high quality surface finishes, efficient production output, and on time delivery in line with company standards, job specifications, and health & safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Surface Preparation

  • Prepare sheet metal products for coating through:
    • Shot blasting
    • Cleaning using Vixon surface treatment machine
    • Sanding and grinding using hand and power tools
    • Filling and repairing surface imperfections

Coating Application

  • Load and unload products onto the paint line safely and efficiently
  • Apply primer coatings where required
  • Mix paint and coating materials in accordance with specifications
  • Apply electrostatic powder coating using a variety of finishes
  • Carry out occasional wet paint application when required

Curing Process

  • Set and operate curing ovens, including temperature and timer settings
  • Monitor curing cycles to ensure compliance with quality standards

Quality Control

  • Carry out visual and dimensional inspections of finished products
  • Ensure all work meets job pack requirements and supplier specifications
  • Identify, report, and resolve quality issues promptly
  • Minimise defects and rework through careful attention to detail

Production & Systems

  • Access and follow job packs accurately
  • Record job times and update production data using TruTops system
  • Meet daily and weekly production targets
  • Report progress and any issues to line management

Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Experience in powder coating (essential)
  • Experience in sheet metal or fabrication environment (preferred)
  • Surface preparation experience advantageous
  • Forklift licence desirable but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced production environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Basic IT skills (production systems such as ERP / MRP)
