We are looking for a Materials Handler to support the production team by ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate handling, storage, and control of materials throughout the manufacturing process.

The role is responsible for maintaining the seamless flow of raw materials to production, controlling inventory, managing reusable off-cuts and scrap, and ensuring all material movements are accurately recorded in line with company procedures, quality standards, and health and safety requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, store, and issue materials following company procedures.
  • Safely handle and transport materials, including large metal sheets, using the correct equipment.
  • Ensure materials are supplied to production on time to avoid delays.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and update the inventory/ERP system.
  • Carry out regular stock checks and investigate any discrepancies or damaged materials.
  • Identify and store reusable off-cuts and manage scrap materials in line with company procedures.
  • Keep warehouse and production areas clean, organised, and safe using 5S principles.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Work closely with Production, Planning, Purchasing, and Quality teams to support daily operations.
  • Support continuous improvement activities to reduce waste, improve stock accuracy, and increase efficiency.
  • Follow all Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies and procedures.

About You

You will be a reliable, organised, and safety-conscious individual with experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.

You will have excellent attention to detail and be committed to maintaining accurate stock records while ensuring materials are available to support production.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, stores, materials handling, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience handling sheet metal or other large industrial materials.
  • Good understanding of stock control and inventory management processes.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment (training or licences advantageous where applicable).
  • Good IT skills with experience using inventory management or ERP systems.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
  • Experience working within a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of 5S principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems within a manufacturing environment.
