The Public Affairs Adviser supports the delivery of ADS’s public affairs strategy and campaigns across aerospace, defence, security and space. The role focuses on day‑to‑day programme support, stakeholder coordination, parliamentary monitoring, events delivery, and high‑quality briefings—working closely with colleagues across Policy & Public Affairs and wider teams.
This role involves producing clear, accurate briefings for senior leaders and parliamentarians, supporting parliamentary evidence sessions, and coordinating responses to government and political consultations. It also contributes to planning and delivering political events—including parliamentary receptions, party conference activity, and industry events—while managing stakeholder engagement on the day.
A key part of the role is monitoring political developments affecting ADS sectors, providing insight, and contributing to content such as blogs, policy publications and member communications. It involves maintaining good relationships with member companies, supporting effective collaboration, and ensuring accurate internal records, reporting and professional standards across all workstreams.
It is ideal for someone with a solid grounding in politics or public affairs who is ready to step up in a dynamic, fast‑moving political environment. The role directly reports to the ADS Director of Policy and Public Affairs, and is based in London.
We are looking for someone with good public affairs knowledge and experience gained in Parliament, public affairs, or a closely related political environment. You will have a solid understanding of UK political processes and a good awareness of the wider UK and EU policy context. An interest in, or reasonable grasp of, the issues facing the aerospace, defence, security, and space sectors will be highly valuable.
This role also requires someone who is naturally organised, detail oriented, and comfortable managing several projects at once. You should feel confident coordinating programmes, planning events, and delivering stakeholder engagement activity with professionalism and accuracy, even when working to tight deadlines.
We need a clear and persuasive communicator who can adapt their style for different audiences. You should be comfortable briefing senior colleagues, engaging credibly with external stakeholders, and producing well‑crafted written work that informs, influences, and supports effective decision‑making.
Finally, we are looking for a proactive self‑starter who brings energy and initiative to their work. You will be adaptable, resilient, and motivated by achieving strong results. Equally important is your ability to work collaboratively and foster a positive team culture while contributing to the success of the wider organisation.
