A great opportunity for an experienced Senior Buyer to join a high performing Commercial team responsible for delivering cost effective, high quality housebuilding. You’ll manage the full materials purchasing process across multiple residential sites, ensuring the best value, correct specifications and reliable supply to keep projects running smoothly.
Key responsibilities:
- Scheduling and placing material and plant orders with national and local suppliers
- Reviewing drawings for discrepancies and ensuring correct specifications
- Producing material cost schedules, budgets and enquiry packs
- Assessing supplier quotations and ensuring accuracy of schedules
- Forecasting and reporting material cost changes
- Monthly accruals and quarterly material valuations
- Managing invoice queries with Accounts
- Carrying out on site material checks and resolving supply issues
- Attending pre-start, internal meetings and weekly site visits
- Raising office and Sales/Marketing orders when required
What we’re looking for:
- Experience as a Buyer or Materials Buyer within housebuilding or construction
- Strong knowledge of materials, suppliers and cost control
- Confident reading technical drawings and checking specifications
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail and negotiation skills
- Ability to support multiple sites and work within group procedures
- Strong communication and supplier relationship management
