Are you a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor looking to join a growing contractor where your work genuinely makes an impact? We're working exclusively with a well-established construction business that has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality residential refurbishment, extensions, conversions and permitted development schemes across London and the South East. Due to continued growth and a healthy order book, they're looking to strengthen their commercial team with the appointment of a Quantity Surveyor.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit business where you'll have real responsibility, work alongside experienced construction professionals and play a key role in the successful commercial delivery of multiple projects.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you'll be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of projects from procurement through to final account. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing project costs and budgets throughout the construction lifecycle
  • Procuring subcontractors and negotiating packages
  • Preparing subcontract orders and contract documentation
  • Valuing completed works and processing subcontractor payments
  • Managing variations and change control
  • Preparing monthly cost reports and forecasts
  • Monitoring project profitability and cash flow
  • Producing final accounts
  • Working closely with site teams to ensure projects are delivered commercially and operationally
  • Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers

About You

We're keen to speak with Quantity Surveyors who have:

  • Previous experience working for a main contractor or residential developer
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction and refurbishment projects
  • Experience managing projects from procurement through to final account
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Good understanding of JCT contracts
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills
  • A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
