Infrastructure & Systems Engineer

My client is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Infrastructure & Systems Engineer to join their growing IT team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, combining hands-on IT support with infrastructure administration in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Working as part of a collaborative IT function, you'll play a key role in ensuring the business's IT systems, networks and end-user services remain secure, reliable and highly available.

/n

The Role

/n

This is a broad technical position where you'll provide first and second-line support whilst taking ownership of core IT infrastructure and day-to-day operational activities. You'll be the go-to person for resolving technical issues, supporting colleagues across the business and helping improve the efficiency, reliability and security of the IT environment.

/n

You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to infrastructure improvements, documentation and automation as the organisation continues to grow.

/n

Key Responsibilities

/n

/n
- Provide first and second-line IT support to users across the business.
/n
- Manage, prioritise and resolve IT support tickets, escalating where appropriate.
/n
- Configure and deploy laptops, desktops and mobile devices for new starters.
/n
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including user accounts and permissions.
/n
- Maintain and support core IT infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment and office technology.
/n
- Administer user accounts across Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory and Google Workspace.
/n
- Monitor and troubleshoot networking issues including VPN connectivity, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VLANs.
/n
- Maintain IT asset registers, hardware inventory and documentation.
/n
- Support backups, security updates and system maintenance.
/n
- Help improve IT processes, documentation and day-to-day operational efficiency.
/n

About You

/n

You'll be a hands-on IT professional with strong troubleshooting skills and a customer-focused approach. You'll enjoy working closely with users while also developing your infrastructure knowledge and contributing to technical improvement projects.

/n

Skills & Experience

/n

/n
- Previous experience in an IT Support or IT Infrastructure Support role.
/n
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Active Directory.
/n
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and VLANs.
/n
- Experience supporting Windows desktop environments and business IT infrastructure.
/n
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent communication and customer service.
/n
- Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple support requests.
/n
- Experience using IT helpdesk or ticketing systems.
/n

- Veeam Backup & Replication.

- PowerShell scripting.
/n
- Linux administration (Ubuntu, Rocky Linux or similar).

- Dell PowerEdge server hardware.

- Security best practices and backup management.
