On behalf of our rapidly growing client based in Manchester, we are recruiting for an exceptional Software Engineering Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Lead Software Engineer looking to step into an Engineering Manager position, leading a high-performing team of 8–10 engineers.
As Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and developing engineers within the wider technology team, while helping shape engineering standards, delivery, and technical direction.
The Software Engineering Manager will be responsible for:
- Leading and managing a team of approximately 8–10 software engineers, supporting both their technical and professional development
- Ensuring the team understands company and departmental goals, and that engineering and architectural best practices are followed
- Mentoring and coaching engineers, helping individuals achieve their full potential
- Working closely with Product and Project teams to ensure development priorities are understood, estimated accurately, and delivered on time to a high standard
- Collaborating with peers and senior technical staff to identify opportunities for optimisation and continuous improvement across engineering and delivery functions
- Creating a positive, collaborative, and high-performing engineering culture
The Software Engineering Manager will have:
- Previous experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Principal Engineer, Lead Developer, or similar technical leadership role
- A desire to move into, or recent experience within, an Engineering Manager position
- Experience working within a fast-paced Agile software delivery environment
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching capabilities
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical challenges clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- A strong technical background, ideally with exposure to Golang, React Native, and/or TypeScript
