Job Title: Yard Shunter (Off-Road / No HGV Licence Required) Location: Stanford-le-Hope / Tilbury, Essex Salary: £15.00 – £16.00 per hour (Paid weekly) Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (Agency contract with temp-to-perm potential) Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off rotation | 12-Hour Shifts 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM Days About the Role: Are you looking for a stable, long-term driving role without the stress of highway traffic, tight delivery windows, or strict tachograph regulations? We are currently recruiting for dedicated Yard Shunter Operators to join a major logistics and distribution hub based in South Essex. This role is strictly site-based and completely off-road. Because you will not be driving on public highways, you do not need a valid HGV Class 1/2 Licence, Driver CPC, or a Digital Tachograph card to apply. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced yard drivers, industrial tug operators, or commercial drivers looking to step away from long-distance haulage into a predictable, well-structured shift pattern. Key Responsibilities: * Safely and efficiently maneuver commercial trailers around a busy, fast-paced distribution yard using Terberg or specialized shunting tugs. * Allocate trailers to designated loading bays in coordination with the warehouse warehouse operations team. * Perform routine pre-shift safety inspections on the shunting vehicles and report any defects immediately. * Ensure all trailer handovers are executed in compliance with site health and safety guidelines. * Assist with basic yard management tasks and fleet coordination as required by the shift supervisor. What We Are Looking For: * Proven experience operating shunting tugs (Terberg, MAFI, or similar units) or heavy yard vehicles is highly desirable. * A valid UK manual car driving licence (Category B) is essential. * Comfort working a permanent 4-on-4-off shift pattern. * A highly safety-conscious mindset with the ability to navigate a active, high-volume industrial environment. * Reliable transport to the site location in South Essex due to the shift start and end times.
