We are working with a well-established and highly respected accountancy practice who are looking to appoint an experienced Accounts & Tax Manager to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant (or qualified by experience) who enjoys managing client relationships, leading teams, and delivering high-quality advisory services.

The Role

  • Take ownership of a varied portfolio of clients, providing strategic guidance across both accounting and tax matters.
  • Play a key role in leading and developing a team, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as a main point of contact.
  • Leading client meetings and providing tailored accounting and tax advice.
  • Reviewing accounts and tax returns to ensure compliance with HMRC and Companies House requirements.
  • Overseeing workflow, allocating tasks and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Maintaining high standards across client deliverables, including quality and accuracy.
  • Supporting year-end reporting processes (e.g., P11Ds, ATED, Form 42).
  • Driving process improvement and efficiency through use of systems and technology.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing junior team members.
  • Ensuring all work meets regulatory and ethical standards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be ACA / ACCA qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Have experience managing a client portfolio within practice.
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge across accounts and tax.
  • Be confident reviewing work and ensuring compliance.
  • Have excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Be comfortable using accounting software (ideally Xero, Sage or similar).
  • Have previous experience supervising or mentoring staff (preferred).
