We’re recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join an established and growing main contractor based in Southend.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator to join a well-established business with a strong reputation, working on a varied range of projects and playing an important role in securing new work.
The Role
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates and tenders, working closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and the wider commercial team.
You will be involved throughout the tender process, from reviewing enquiries and drawings through to preparing and submitting competitive bids.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing detailed estimates and tenders from drawings, specifications and schedules
- Reviewing project requirements and identifying costs, risks and opportunities
- Obtaining, analysing and negotiating subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Producing accurate cost plans and tender submissions
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
- Working closely with the commercial and pre-construction teams
- Ensuring tenders are accurate, competitive and submitted within deadlines
- Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Supporting the business in identifying and securing new project opportunities
About You
We’re looking for an experienced Estimator with a background within construction, ideally gained within a main contractor environment.
You’ll need to be commercially minded, highly organised and confident working with drawings, specifications, costs and tenders.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience working as an Estimator within construction
- Main contractor experience
- Strong commercial and analytical skills
- Experience pricing tenders and obtaining subcontractor quotations
- Good knowledge of construction processes and costs
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
Package
Up to £60,000 basic salary + benefits
