Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital; we conduct research and teaching on site to improve the care of our patients. The hospital is undergoing significant investment and development including a new surgical ward.
Job overview: Cleaning Assistant, 30 hours per week, Weekdays, Monday to Friday 10:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs, Band 2: £25,272 per annum pro rata, an enhanced hourly rate will be payable for unsocial hours.
We are looking for one Domestic staff member to join the existing team to provide a high-quality cleaning service at Milton Keynes University Hospital Cancer Centre. The Centre will bring the hospital’s cancer and radiotherapy services under one roof in a modern dedicated space. You will keep the Cancer Centre clean with general duties such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning the patient bed areas, sanitary fittings and emptying waste bins.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities include:
- Floor Cleaning Duties: Suction clean & dust control sweeping, Damp and wet mopping, Deep Cleaning/Periodic Cleaning in accordance with hospital policy & work instruction, Exit & Terminal Cleans in accordance with hospital policy & work instruction.
- Other Duties: Curtain changes, Cleaning of cleaning equipment and signage.
Person specification:
- Qualifications and knowledge: Understanding of how to communicate any concerns about your working tasks in an effective manner, COSHH, Infection control knowledge and understanding relating to maintaining a safe clean environment.
- Experience: Experience of working in healthcare environment, Demonstrable experience of delivering a quality service as part of a team, Liaison with others who work in the same environment to support and encourage each other.
- Skills: Ability to demonstrate communication skills and be confident in dealing with any problems for instance by reporting them to supervisors and other relevant colleagues, Ability to work under own initiative to meet deadlines, Ability to maximise the use of available department resources in achievement of set objectives.
- Personal and people development: Maintains and shares own career development, Commitment to continuous improvement, Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
