  • Be both highly technical and an effective people manager, acting as a subject matter expert within your product domain.
  • Lead a team delivering multiple projects with growing dependencies in high-impact or ambiguous areas, while participating in technical design and helping shape engineering decisions.
  • Work closely with your team and cross-functional partners to define and influence strategy, drive roadmap creation, and ensure strong execution.
  • Collaborate across functions to deliver engineering initiatives and achieve shared outcomes, building effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Measure the impact of your team, setting clear expectations, goals, and priorities to enable high performance.
  • Partner with leadership on organisation design, team contribution, and long-term prioritisation.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Previous people-management experience within a technical environment, including supporting, developing, and coaching engineers while driving high-quality delivery.
  • Strong experience working within a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or GCP), with knowledge of cloud-native architecture, deployments, and modern engineering practices.
  • Proven experience leading architectural decision-making, providing technical direction, and ensuring systems are scalable, secure, and maintainable.

Desirable

  • Extensive hands-on software engineering experience, demonstrating strong proficiency across modern development practices, tooling, and coding standards, with the ability to dive into technical detail when required.
  • Experience building end-to-end web/mobile-based solutions, including designing and developing APIs, integrating with external systems, and managing server-client interactions to deliver robust, scalable products.
  • Significant backend development experience, ideally using Python and Django, with a strong understanding of service architecture, performance optimisation, and reliable system design.
  • Proven experience in recruiting, developing, and supporting technical teams, creating an environment where engineers can perform at their best and grow their capability over time.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science (or equivalent proven experience) demonstrating strong foundational knowledge in engineering principles, system design, and software architecture.
