Location: Hybrid (Cardiff) – We are working in a hybrid approach with a mixture of office and home working. We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home.
Duration: 9 – 12 months (starting Autumn 2026 and ending Summer 2027)
We are looking for high achieving STEM students to spend their placement year with us starting in September 2026! You will be based in one of our Pricing functions working as a Junior Pricing Analyst.
Pricing Analysts help the Pricing department ensure that the prices/rates we set for our customers are as profitable as possible given specific market conditions. By using various applications and programmes, including SQL, Looker and Excel, you\’ll produce reports and models to compare different customer groups in order to help us make better pricing decisions. You\’ll also help in dealing with queries from other departments with regards to our pricing structure and will also be responsible for various ad-hoc pieces of work. Don\’t worry if you haven\’t worked with these systems before as full training will be provided.
Many of our previous placement students have returned to work in permanent, graduate roles within Pricing after graduation. Or, have continued on to work part time with us during their 3rd year at university. So, this is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door and make a good impression!

Main Duties:
- Build up knowledge of our Guidewire quote system
- Quickly and efficiently deal with all types of Pricing queries from other internal departments
- Become proficient in SQL / Big Query, including all data files
- Carry out ad-hoc investigations into various issues that may be affecting the Pricing process
- Produce and review a variety of more complex regular reports, and display a thorough understanding of relevant issues
- Complete analysis on rate tables and provide suggestions on future rating patterns, and where appropriate suggest new variables or new rate tables that can be used to improve our rating structure
You will be trained and supported through all of the above.
Essential Skills:
- On track to achieve a 2.1 or above in a numerical discipline
- The ability to combine methodical thinking based on numbers together with common sense and imagination
- A willingness to dive into detail
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Recruitment Process:
If your CV demonstrates the requirements needed, you will be invited to complete an online numeracy test.
The Hiring Managers will then review your application along with your test score. Following review of your application and test score together, you will be invited to attend an interview with two members of the Pricing department.
