We are seeking skilled and motivated individuals to become part of our Complex Pre-Litigation Team.

The Complex department focuses on road traffic accident claims valued up to £25,000. This team also handles the firm’s Fatality, Bankruptcy, and Capacity claims, requiring exceptional client care skills, technical expertise, and sensitivity.

This is a fee-earning position, and you will manage your own caseload of files that have been removed from the OIC/MOJ portals due to their complexity or potential value. Your caseload will include a mix of admitted and denied liability cases, with the potential for significant value. You will oversee each file from inception to settlement, including the chance to initiate Part 8 proceedings.

Your primary responsibility will be to act in the best interests of your client, actively advancing their case toward a favorable outcome. This includes investigating liability, providing outstanding client care, and ensuring that all aspects of the client’s injuries and losses are fully addressed. Injuries may range from general orthopaedic issues to those needing multiple medical experts, including neurological, ENT, and fibromyalgia injuries. Investigating financial losses may require detailed specialist advice, encompassing employed loss of earnings, self-employed losses, and ongoing treatment or care needs. Don’t worry if you haven’t encountered these losses before; training and ongoing support from your team manager will be provided.

As a member of the SIT & Complex department, you will have the chance to collaborate with the Serious Injuries Team, often investigating and constructing claims aimed at potential high settlements (i.e., over £25,000), after which the claims will be transferred to SIT. You will have the opportunity to grow through close relationships with solicitors and benefit from their mentoring and buddying programs. Additionally, there will be chances to shadow members of that Team on significant and catastrophic Multi-Track cases, participating in conferences, hearings, and settlement meetings.

Your Experience

Previous experience in handling Personal Injury claims and the ability to review medical reports and assess claims using JC Guidelines and case law is desirable but not mandatory. Familiarity with the OIC, MOJ Portal, or experience with Part 8 claims would also be advantageous. Strong client care skills are essential.

The Role

You will be located in Ty Admiral, Cardiff City Centre, working core hours of 37.5 per week (part-time applications may be considered). This position aligns with our Smart Working model, allowing for a blend of remote and in-office work. Currently, team office days are every Monday. New starters must complete a minimum of one month of in-office training, which includes an in-person induction and buddying with your new team. This period may extend to three months if necessary.

You will be given achievable targets, including settlement and billing goals. Additionally, you will be expected to participate in marketing events, both internal and external. Mentoring handlers in other areas of the business will also be part of your role, helping them with queries through face-to-face interactions, team clinics, workshops, and training opportunities.
