About the Role
Acting as the Senior Finance Business Partner for Admiral Money and the deputy to the Head of Finance, this role provides a holistic view of business performance, strategy and financial outcomes across the organisation.
As the second-in-command within the function, the position supports both operational and strategic decision-making, delivering commercial insight, long-term financial planning, robust performance management and the achievement of key business objectives.
The role is responsible for ensuring financial considerations are embedded across all areas of the business, helping to balance growth, profitability, capital efficiency and risk.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, the successful candidate will influence business strategy, challenge decision-making where appropriate, and drive sustainable financial performance.
This is a hybrid role with the expectation to be in our Cardiff Office 2 days a week minimum
- What You Will Be Doing
- Lead the development and maintenance of Admiral Money's 5-year strategic plan.
- Provide recommendations on where to deploy capital, investment and resources to maximise long-term value creation.
- Maintain oversight of the full Admiral Money P&L, understanding the key drivers of revenue, costs, impairments, funding and profitability.
- Drive understanding of product profitability, NPV, return on capital and economic value creation across the business.
- Lead financial evaluation of major initiatives, investments and growth opportunities.
- Develop scenarios and strategic options to support Executive and Board decision making.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency and capital utilisation.
- Support preparation of Board papers, strategic reviews and business performance insights.
- Act as deputy to the Head of FP&A, providing leadership, challenge and coaching across the Finance Business Partnering team
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Significant experience in finance business partnering, FP&A, commercial finance or a related strategic finance role.
- Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, financial modelling and performance management.
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to assess opportunities, investments and business performance through a financial and strategic lens.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights.
- Proven ability to influence, challenge and build credibility with senior stakeholders, presenting complex financial information in a clear and compelling way.
- Experience operating in a fast-paced, evolving business environment, balancing commercial objectives, financial performance and risk considerations.
- Demonstrable experience supporting strategic decision-making, long-term planning and business performance improvement. (Aligned to the role accountabilities.)
Desirable
- Experience within financial services, banking or lending environments.
- Knowledge of lending economics, portfolio profitability, funding, impairments, margin drivers, unit economics and customer lifetime value.
- Understanding of capital management, balance sheet optimisation, capital efficiency and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience supporting Executive, Board or senior leadership decision-making through strategic financial insight and analysis.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or equivalent experience gained through a finance career
