Claims Engineers are technical experts for claims damage estimate reviews and queries. They investigate and review estimates, customer images, and repair methods in an effective and efficient manner to determine repair safety and cost controls for our customers. The Claims Engineer will be responsible for their own workloads to ensure timely responses to repairers or frontline claims teams, maintaining a high level of repair safety and a good average repair cost.

The Claims Engineer will work across multiple brands, products, and functions dealing with all types of estimates including approved networks, non-approved networks, and retrospective audits of repairs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be a subject matter expert for the claims engineering department.
  • Ensure estimates are assessed to determine good outcomes for customers and suppliers.
  • Identify all referrals such as unrelated damage or modifications.
  • Complete all allocated training to remain up to date with the latest technology, repair methods, and FCA regulations for working within claims.
  • Mitigate supplier risks and protect the business from exposure to risk by reporting to management.
  • Be a point of reference for the engineering team.
  • Work as directed by the Claims Engineering Manager and Senior.
  • Ensure efficient and effective management of workloads and daily allocation of work.

Essential Skills Required

  • Associate IAEA qualification (or working toward).
  • AQP Qualification.
  • Authorised to carry out vehicle categorisation (CAT) decisions and assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle repair processes, including repair methods, timescales, costs, and industry best practices.

Desirable

  • Evidence of understanding business requirements and delivery.
  • Ability to problem solve and use own initiative.
  • Strong verbal communication and organisational skills.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of repair techniques, tools, methods, and materials used in modern-day repair organisations.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to teamwork.
