The Compliance Monitoring Manager provides senior subject matter expertise within the Compliance Monitoring Team (CMT). This role leads complex reviews, strengthens monitoring methodology, and supports the Senior Compliance Monitoring Manager (SCMM) in delivering a risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP). The manager delivers independent assurance against Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) rules, guidance, and conduct risk expectations, ensuring robust governance and the delivery of good outcomes for customers.
Main Duties
- Shape and maintain the risk-based CMP, using MI, regulatory themes, insights, and emerging risks to inform prioritisation.
- Maintain accurate CMP data, KPIs, and documentation, highlighting delays, risks, or pressure points early and escalating where appropriate.
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex thematic or focused reviews, applying advanced regulatory knowledge to testing, analysis, and conclusions.
- Produce clear, evidence-based findings that articulate customer impact, root causes, and proportionate actions; agree actions with stakeholders and support follow-ups.
- Support short-notice or priority reviews as required.
- Ensure all review work reflects FCA standards, conduct risk requirements, and principles relating to foreseeable harm and customer outcomes.
- Provide practical regulatory guidance and challenge to colleagues, promoting consistent best practice across the team.
- Maintain strong, timely communication with stakeholders, ensuring consistent reporting and providing accurate inputs for governance forums.
- Improve monitoring tools, templates, and methodologies to enhance clarity, consistency, and effectiveness.
- Contribute to team learning, knowledge sharing, and the tracking and facilitation of agreed actions to ensure timely progress and resolution.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Comprehensive understanding of FCA regulation and conduct risk expectations.
- Proven experience in delivering complex monitoring or assurance reviews within a regulated environment.
- Ability to identify and analyse customer harm, outcome risks, and determine underlying root causes.
- Strong influencing and challenging skills when engaging with stakeholders.
- Experience in improving monitoring methodology, tools, or processes to enhance compliance effectiveness.
