We are looking for an Operations Manager to lead our site, which is a key manufacturing facility producing live bacteria formulations in multiple formats, including capsules, tablets, sachets, powders, and liquid/syringe applications. We operate in a GMP-regulated environment, and the site combines complex formulation, advanced packaging technologies, and controlled storage conditions to ensure product quality and efficacy.
The role will lead all site Operations, including Production, Warehousing (across two locations), and Engineering/Maintenance, across flexible 24/5–24/7 shift patterns. It is accountable for end-to-end manufacturing performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost, and a key member of the Operations Management Team.
Key Responsibilities- People: Lead, develop, and motivate teams to drive performance, accountability, and continuous improvement. Ensure effective resourcing across all operations.
- Safety & Environment: Ensure compliance and drive a proactive safety culture.
- Quality: Maintain GMP and food safety standards (FSSC, FEMAS, UFAS, etc.), driving ownership of quality systems and continuous improvement.
- Delivery & Performance: Improve efficiency (OEE, yield, downtime) and ensure On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery.
- Cost: Manage budgets and deliver cost reduction through operational improvements.
- Production: Lead multi-shift operations, improve KPIs, and build a proactive production culture.
- Warehousing: Oversee two-site warehousing, ensuring effective storage, inventory accuracy, and material flow.
- Engineering/Maintenance: Drive asset reliability and transition to proactive maintenance; support CAPEX planning and delivery.
- Lead Daily Operations Meetings (DOM) and drive engagement through GEMBA.
- Contribute to site strategy and master planning.
- Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills
- 10+ years' manufacturing experience (food, pharma, or regulated environment preferred)
- Knowledge of GMP and standards (ISO9001, FSSC 22000, FEMAS, UFAS, NOPS)
- Lean Six Sigma and ERP (e.g. IFS) experience desirable
