Responsibilities
- Oversee architecture across trading, clearing, and post-trade systems and their integrations with CCPs, exchanges, data vendors, and customers
- Lead modernization of integration patterns while enforcing strong security
- Steer data architecture strategy aligning with business objectives and ensuring data quality, security, and accessibility
- Chair architecture governance forums and drive timely architectural decisions
- Produce architecture documentation, decision records, and target-state blueprints for reviews and audits
- Design systems to meet RTO/RPO and FCA operational resilience obligations
- Ensure regulatory obligations by design (EMIR, MiFID II, DORA, etc.)
- Contribute to change and incident management frameworks
- Mentor engineering teams on architecture principles, cloud-native patterns, and best practices
- Promote DevSecOps and IaC across technology teams
- Support defining and governing AI usage with security, explainability, and compliance
Key requirements
- Deep domain knowledge of financial markets technology in roles such as FCM, clearing broker, investment bank, exchange, or vendor
- Proven experience designing systems for listed derivatives, securities, or FX processing
- Understanding of order processing, risk management, margining, collateral, valuation, and give-up processing
- Strong knowledge of FIX protocol and CCP/vendor connectivity (e.g., ICE Clearing, Eurex, LME, CME)
- Experience with event-driven architectures, message brokers (Kafka, IBM MQ), and real-time data pipelines
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks: EMIR, MiFID II, CASS, MAR, DORA, CFTC
- Proficiency in microservices and containerization
- Azure cloud architecture expertise for regulated workloads
- Expertise in .Net / C# / SQL Server; React.js and Python desirable
- Excellent communication skills; able to present to C-suite and technical stakeholders
- University degree in CS or related field (ideally)
- 10+ years in software engineering or infrastructure; at least 3 years in a senior architecture role
