An opportunity has arisen for a Hygiene Operative in Corby, UK. The main purpose of this role is to work safely and efficiently to produce wheat-based products to specification, whilst maintaining hygiene and food safety standards to the maximum. Assist in the control and operation of the Milling plant from wheat intake to finished product transfer. To ensure other employees and contractors also work in accordance with agreed procedures, with particular reference to Health and Safety and Food Safety.
Your Responsibilities
- Ensure that all work is performed with due diligence and in conformation of all current and future relevant legislation and company procedures. Specific reference being made to Health & Safety, LOTO, Hygiene, COSHH, HACCP and Electrical Regulations.
- Whilst supervising the shift site operative, be fully responsible for ensuring daily mill operations are completed to the correct standard, including all mill GMP tasks, food safety tasks and hygiene duties.
- Support the Head Miller in the operation and control of the plant equipment and systems for the mill, screenroom and finished product handling.
- Co-operate with the tech miller and engineering department, and carry out plant maintenance within the individual’s skill base, to ensure that all plant is operating to its optimum.
- Assist to analyse, diagnose and rectify faults or problems which cause inefficiencies in the operations. With specific emphasis on the mill and screenroom control systems.
- Sampling and analysis of raw materials, internal stocks and finished products, as required to produce the quality of products as required by the company.
- Ensure that sufficient stocks of micro ingredients and additives are available to meet specification targets.
- Give and receive training in skills as required.
- Assist in maintaining clear records and databases relating to all operational matters and process control systems.
- Contribute to the team with ideas and innovations which may improve the current systems of operations.
- Assist in cost control.
- Work a 4 on/4 off shift system (2 days, 2 nights), and provide cover for holidays where applicable.
- Have the responsibility of being the senior site person whilst on site out of hours.
- Ensuring the SMS process is followed effectively throughout the shift and all actions are either completed or escalated as appropriate.
Your Profile
- Completion of UK flour millers/Nabim intermediate Flour Milling certificate, whilst working towards the advanced certificate.
- Demonstrable experience on shift in a flour mill.
- PLC program knowledge would be advantageous.
