The Fertiliser Sales Specialist is responsible for driving profitable sales growth across the company’s fertiliser portfolio. This role focuses on developing new business, strengthening relationships with existing customers, and promoting the value of our products through a consultative, solution-oriented approach. Acting as a trusted advisor to farmers and channel partners, the Specialist will represent the company within the UK crop input market - delivering consistent sales results, excellent customer service, and long-term customer retention. The Specialist will bring strong agricultural knowledge, particularly in fertiliser products and on-farm application, enabling them to confidently engage with customers and support data-driven purchasing decisions.
Main Responsibilities
- Sales & Business Development: Drive sales growth of fertilisers and related products across a defined UK territory. Build and maintain strong commercial relationships with farmers, distributors, and key industry stakeholders. Identify, qualify, and convert new business opportunities to increase market share. Understand customer objectives and provide tailored fertiliser solutions to enhance crop yield and farm profitability. Collaborate with marketing and commercial teams to plan and execute promotional campaigns and sales initiatives.
- Product Knowledge and Technical Expertise: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fertiliser products, application techniques, industry standards, and environmental regulations. Provide expert advice on product selection based on soil structure, crop rotation, sustainability, and compliance considerations. Support customers through farm visits, field trials, demonstrations, and workshops to showcase product performance and value.
- Customer Service & Relationship Management: Deliver a high standard of customer support from enquiry to after-sales service. Resolve technical or service issues promptly and professionally to build trust and customer loyalty. Act as a reliable point of contact for advice, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.
- Market Analysis & Reporting: Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to inform sales strategies. Prepare accurate sales forecasts, regional business plans, and performance reports. Analyse sales data and customer insights to refine strategies and drive revenue growth.
Profile
- Proven sales experience, ideally within the agricultural or crop input sector.
- FACTS qualified (or willingness to achieve certification within 12 months).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly within the region.
