Role Overview

A dynamic, challenging role with key responsibility for monitoring product and process quality within the business.

The scope of the role includes but is not limited to inspection, calibration, concern management and the identification of opportunities for improvement.

Duties & Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct product and process audits in line with audit schedule, report out and raise corrective actions utilising the ADM Quality Improvement System.
  • Confirm product complies with specification, coach and educate manufacturing staff when issues are found and apply containment as necessary.
  • Advise colleagues and Supervisors/Team Leaders of problems concerning any process, material or quality of work performed; if a problem is identified work back through product already built to ensure containment is achieved and zero defects reach the customer.
  • Random inspection of parent materials and consumables.
  • Maintain on-site calibration of applicable measurement and process equipment and collection of measurement equipment in readiness for external calibration;
  • Conduct supplier rejection process up to the collection of non-conforming parts and acceptance of supplier corrective action reports.
  • 100% containment activity on ADM work in progress and stock when customer concerns are received.
  • Raise internal nonconformance reports and scrap requisitions as per ADM procedures, perform initial root cause analysis with feedback to engineering to support subsequent Quality department investigations.
  • Review and manage quarantine areas and support system transactions.

Support the manufacturing function with regular activity to manage parts in quarantine through rework processes.

  • Report issues directly into the Senior Quality Engineers and where necessary to provide detail support the start of shift
  • Provide Inspection cover during absence and offering support and advice as necessary.
  • Prepare and distribute shift handover documents to ensure effective communication of activity status and issues.
  • Attend customer or supplier facilities as and when required.
  • Identification of improvement opportunities.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned to meet business plan objectives.

This role has the authority to stop production in the event of a Quality concern and raise the issue with the immediate Team Leader, Supervisor or Production Manager, also notifying the appropriate Quality Engineer or Senior Quality Engineer.

Qualifications / Skillsets

  • GCSE's in Maths and English an absolute minimum requirement.
  • Prior experience of inspection methods and equipment (measuring devices e. g. CMM / Faro Arm, Verniers, micrometers, radius, plug and thread gauges).
  • Able to read drawings and understand the principle of drawing tolerances including Geometric Tolerancing.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft tools (Excel, Word and Power Point).
  • Basic understanding of statistical process control.
  • Is comfortable working in a team environment and can take the lead on investigating and resolving problems when required.
