We’re looking for an experienced Shopify Developer to join a digital agency in Manchester.
You’ll join an established development team and work across a mix of Shopify projects, including new builds, migrations and ongoing development work. This is a hands‑on development role with plenty of variety and the opportunity to bring your own ideas and experience to the team.
What you’ll be doing
As a Shopify Developer, you’ll build, customise and maintain Shopify and Shopify Plus stores for clients across a range of sectors. You’ll develop bespoke themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, turning Figma designs into accurate, responsive storefronts. You’ll work with apps, integrations, metafields and metaobjects and support migrations to Shopify from other eCommerce platforms.
You’ll also focus on storefront performance, page speed, Core Web Vitals, accessibility and cross-browser compatibility. You’ll work closely with other developers, designers and Project Managers throughout the delivery process. There will also be opportunities to join client conversations when technical input is useful.
The team is open to new ideas and different ways of working, so you’ll have the opportunity to share your Shopify knowledge and contribute to how projects are delivered.
What experience you’ll need to apply
- Strong commercial experience as a Shopify Developer, ideally within a digital or eCommerce agency.
- Strong Shopify theme development experience using Liquid, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Experience building bespoke Shopify storefronts rather than relying solely on off‑the‑shelf themes.
- Good knowledge of Shopify CLI and Online Store 2.0.
- Experience working with metafields and metaobjects.
- Comfortable translating Figma designs into responsive builds.
- Experience using Git and GitHub or Bitbucket.
- Understanding of performance, accessibility and cross‑browser testing.
- Experience working across multiple projects and deadlines.
- Shopify Plus, Functions, Checkout Extensibility, APIs or migration experience would be beneficial.
- UK‑based with the right to work in the UK.
What you’ll get in return for your experience
This Shopify Developer role offers a salary of £40K – £45K depending on experience and is based in Manchester, with ideally one to two days per week in the office. There is some flexibility around hybrid working. You’ll join an established development team where you can work on varied Shopify projects, continue developing your technical skills and have a genuine say in how things are done.
