We’re looking for a Lead Front-End Developer to join a top software business in Exeter who works with more than a thousand Leisure, Tourism, and Events businesses across the globe. They’ve grown significantly over the last few years and off the back of a very successful 2025, they are now looking for a hands-on Lead Front-End Developer to join the team (80% Front-End, 20% Team Leadership). 1-2 days per week in Exeter office.

What skills and experience you’ll need:

  • Mentoring, coaching experience and ability to lead a small front-end team.
  • Deep expertise in modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Vue.js, React, or Angular), happy to work with Vue.js.
  • Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design best practices.
  • Experience working with design systems and scalable UI architecture.
  • Solid understanding of performance optimisation, accessibility (WCAG), and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Comfortable working with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with SaaS products, ticketing, or eCommerce platforms.
  • Familiarity with backend integration using GraphQL.
  • Experience with TypeScript, Vue, and similar tools.
  • Knowledge of testing frameworks such as Cypress, Vitest, or Jest.
  • Understanding of mobile/responsive UI development and/or hybrid app frameworks (e.g., Capacitor or Ionic).

What you’ll be doing:

As Lead Developer, you will lead the development and evolution of their front-end architecture across web, mobile, and POS interfaces. You will be focused on driving delivery, improving front-end performance and user experience, and ensuring design consistency and technical excellence across the product suite. You’ll guide a small team of front-end developers and collaborate closely with UX/UI, Product, and Engineering stakeholders to deliver high-quality user-facing features. This is a technical hands-on role where you will be seen as a role-model for promoting best practice, clean code and fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team. Other duties will include providing input into feature planning, product roadmaps and communicating technical progress, risks and blockers to internal stakeholders.

What you’ll get in return:

You’ll receive a starting salary up to £60k and benefits including: an annual bonus scheme, a generous individual training budget per year to spend on courses or accreditations. You’ll join the team with 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays and your birthday off, but this will increase by a day a year (up to 30 days) to reward long service.
