About the opportunity:UCL Business Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of University College London (UCL), has been successfully generating substantive income and impact for UCL and its partner hospitals for 30 years through the commercialisation of novel research.To support an increasing pipeline of opportunities arising from the UCL research base, we are seeking to recruit a high-quality candidate to the role of Business Manager in the Physical Science & Engineering (PS&E) team.What you'll be doing:The individual we are seeking will work on the identification, development and commercialisation of a portfolio of projects arising from across the Faculties of Engineering, Mathematics & Physical Science with a focus on AI, Robotics, Computer Science and related disciplines. This role within a leading university research commercialisation company provides a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with the academic staff of a globally rated Top 10 University, investors, industry and other professionals.If you are looking to make a difference by driving forward world-changing technologies and innovations that can have a real and positive impact on people and planet, then this may be the role for you.What experience you'll need:

  • You will have at minimum a first degree or equivalent in an engineering or physical science-related discipline, with a strong AI, robotics or Computer Science component and be able to demonstrate experience and success in technology commercialisation. Previous university technology transfer experience would be helpful, but is not essential.
  • An entrepreneurial and innovative mindset, having worked within start-up environments or advised on product development and/or growth strategies.
  • The highly varied nature of the role and navigation of the many potential paths for commercialisation, best suits a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, who has the negotiation, communication and organisational skills necessary to identify and develop early stage technology commercialisation projects.

What you'll get in return for your talents:A competitive salary of £49,000 to £60,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
