Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative, award-winning London-based Material Science company. They are leaders within their field and are entering an exciting phase of scale-up and commercialisation. Due to the natural growth of the business, they are looking for a Principal Material Development Scientist to join the team.
What you’ll be doing?
- Lead R&D projects to develop and optimize bio-composite materials from lab-scale to pilot production.
- Design and execute experiments using high-throughput and statistical approaches.
- Characterize materials using thermal, structural, mechanical, and chemical analysis techniques.
- Collaborate with engineers and regulatory teams to ensure compliance and scalability.
- Protect intellectual property and mentor junior team members.
- Stay updated with industry trends through external collaborations.
What they are looking for?
- PhD in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years’ experience in advanced material development, ideally with bio-based or composite materials.
- Expertise in structure–property–process relationships and early-stage product development.
- Skilled in high-throughput experimental design and statistical methods.
- Passionate about sustainability and innovation, with strong leadership and communication skills.
