I am looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join my client based in Bristol which develops assistive technology designed to empower individuals with speech and communication difficulties.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering life-changing medical devices. Working with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and product managers, you’ll design and develop medical-grade tablet computers and accessories.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working on complex CAD assemblies and producing BS8888-standard design drawings.
  • Designing for manufacturing across various methods (injection moulding, CNC, 3D printing, etc.).
  • Selecting and specifying components, verifying product performance, and ensuring international compliance.
  • Participating in product testing, including drop, shock, and accelerated life testing.
  • Travelling as needed to work hands-on with customers and suppliers.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Strong CAD skills (Solidworks ideal).
  • A high-level understanding of mechanical design for manufacturing.
  • Bonus points if you have experience with assistive technology, FEA simulation, or advanced GD&T and tolerance stacking.
