You'll play a key role in laboratory operations, taking ownership of scientific equipment, supporting high-quality experimentation, and helping to deliver the data that drives innovation and discovery.
What you’ll be doing
- Operate and maintain a range of advanced laboratory equipment supporting materials synthesis and characterisation activities.
- Conduct experiments, capture high-quality data, and ensure laboratory processes are carried out safely and consistently.
- Perform routine maintenance and fault‑finding to maximise equipment reliability and uptime.
- Manage consumables, equipment readiness, and laboratory documentation including SOPs and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to support experimental programmes and research objectives.
- Contribute to the development of laboratory processes, automation initiatives, and data‑driven research workflows.
What experience you’ll need to apply
- Hands‑on experience operating and maintaining research‑grade laboratory or scientific equipment.
- Strong practical troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to equipment maintenance and laboratory operations.
- Experience running experiments, capturing data, and maintaining accurate technical documentation.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety requirements and quality procedures.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with scientists, engineers, and technical teams.
- A proactive mindset with strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience writing SOPs and risk assessments.
- Exposure to laboratory automation, data‑capture systems, or scientific instrumentation software.
- CAD, scripting, or Python experience.
- Experience working within a start‑up, scale‑up, or high‑growth R&D environment.
