Job Description:

The protective coatings technician will undertake duties associated with our protective coating services, including but not limited to spray application of polyurea, working towards sole responsibility for running the equipment within the coating trailers. Various other coating application techniques are carried out on an adhoc basis including spray applied vinyl esters in chemical locations, dual layer resin tank lining techniques and hand applied protective coatings where applicable.

The protective coatings technician at times will also be required to provide additional support associated with the clean-up of any spill/fly tip in a variety of environments using resources and equipment.

More about the role:

  • Operating Company vehicles which the protective coatings technician is suitably qualified to operate.
  • Responsibility for ensuring all vehicle checks are undertaken prior to commencing any works.
  • Ensuring all required equipment is located and stored on the allocated vehicle for the pursuance of works.
  • Reporting any vehicle defects to supervision as soon as identified.
  • Supporting the protective coatings team with the application of associated materials in a variety of environments, providing primary, secondary, or tertiary containment.
  • Cleaning up, in an efficient, safe, and professional manner, any spill/fly tip as required.
  • Assisting in the delivery of Civils, ground works, construction, and remediation projects.
  • Ensuring all uplifting and offloading of product and materials is undertaken in the correct and compliant manner with high regard for health and safety and correct working practices.
  • Ensuring the security of all Company vehicles and equipment, ensuring all equipment is fit for purpose and used in the correct manner.
  • Carrying out works in accordance with health and safety to include provided RAMS documentation.
  • Using knowledge and experience to contribute to the pursuance of works and meet customer demand.
  • Cleaning all plant and equipment post job.
  • Identifying repair work required and ensuring the depot, yard area, and office facility is clean and tidy.
  • Liaising with customers on site to discuss ongoing works and further services of the Company.
  • Completion of all works paperwork and submission in a timely manner to divisional supervision.
  • Liaising with supervision regarding all works and recommending improvements or possible opportunities.
  • Any other duties as designated by management for which the protective coatings technician is suitably trained and capable of doing.

Qualifications:

About you:

  • Previous spray application experience would be advantageous, whether protective or cosmetic.
  • The successful candidate must possess knowledge and experience of completing RAMS documentation.
  • Experience of operating plant would be a major advantage.
  • Previous experience of operating in a similar role/environment would be highly advantageous.
  • A willingness to work in an environment of change, dealing with emergency works is essential.
  • Due to the nature of the role and the response duties, a flexible approach to working hours, travel, and working days is required.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to undertake additional training as required to meet the needs of the depot.
  • Must be willing to work away on a regular basis.
  • Must be a great team member, capable of supporting colleagues in challenging times.
