We’re looking for a proactive SHEQ Advisor to join our team at Portsmouth Dockyard to support the delivery of high‑quality SHEQ standards across the business. You’ll play a hands‑on role in keeping people safe, shaping best practice, and helping us maintain a culture where safety always comes first.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the planning, implementation and monitoring of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality activities
  • Carrying out risk assessments, site inspections and accident/incident investigations
  • Recording and maintaining accurate SHEQ documentation
  • Delivering induction training and internal SHEQ training sessions
  • Conducting face‑fit testing and ensuring safe use of equipment
  • Presenting safety information to employees and managers
  • Liaising with customers, HSE and internal SHE teams
  • Ensuring compliance with current legislation
  • Assisting with audits, spot checks and yard checks
  • Promoting a positive safety culture across the organisation

Qualifications

  • Marine and MOD experience - essential
  • Experience of assessing high risk activities - essential
  • Thorough knowledge of confined space management - essential
  • Excellent attention to detail and a natural ability to identify hazards
  • Confidence in recommending practical risk‑reduction measures
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) – essential
  • Ability to hold Tech IOSH status – essential
  • Additional qualifications such as ISO knowledge, PTLLS, Environmental Management or Internal Auditor – desirable
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Willingness to undertake further training and achieve SC Clearance
