Detectronic, based in Nelson, Lancashire, is a UK specialist in wastewater and sewer network monitoring systems. The company designs, manufactures, and installs flow, level, and water-quality monitoring equipment used by water utilities and industrial customers to prevent flooding, reduce pollution, and improve environmental compliance.
Are you the type of person who loves getting to the bottom of a problem or figuring out why a process isn't giving the results you expect? If so, we'd like to meet you. We're looking for a Junior Data Scientist to help transform data into insights, dashboards, models, and convincing arguments.

- Explore and analyse datasets to identify trends and opportunities.
- Create reports and dashboards that make life easier for our colleagues.
- Support the development of models and the automation of processes.
- Work with teams across the business to understand problems and develop solutions.
- Explain and document processes and insights in an engaging and understandable way.
- Stay up to date with developments in data science, AI, analytics and emerging technologies.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Data Science, Maths, Statistics, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Hands-on Data Analytics experience, ideally in a commercial environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Python and/or SQL and a good working knowledge of Excel and basic statistical concepts.
- Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- A curious mindset and willingness to learn.
Nice to have:
- Comfortable working with big data.
- Experience with Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn or similar libraries.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS.
