At Marlin Environmental Services, we are looking for a skilled HGV Class 1 Driver who is just as confident behind the wheel as they are leading a team, tackling specialist cleaning tasks, and delivering exceptional service to our customers. This isn’t your standard driving job. It’s hands-on, varied, and vital to the smooth running of marine and industrial environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Operating vacuum tankers to pump out, service, repair and clean a wide range of systems and facilities
  • Leading and organising staff to ensure every project is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards
  • Planning and coordinating work on behalf of the Operations Manager and wider leadership team
  • Carrying out specialist cleaning of tanks, bilges and compartments
  • Overhauling, servicing and repairing ship systems using a variety of hand tools
  • Managing waste in line with current H&S and environmental regulations
  • High-pressure jet washing of tanks and systems
  • Working safely in confined spaces and undertaking fire sentry duties when required
  • Maintaining exceptional cleanliness and professionalism on customer sites
  • Liaising directly with customers and completing all documentation accurately
  • Ensuring compliance with driving hours, tacho rules and tanker regulations
  • Taking responsibility for PPE, equipment and the safety of yourself and your team

Qualifications

  • Experience starting up and shutting down vacuum tankers
  • Ability to set up and pump liquid/waste from ship to shore
  • Confident operating hot pressure washers
  • Strong understanding of confined space procedures and the ability to prepare your team for safe entry
  • Knowledge of MAR pack procedures and specialist tank/bilge cleaning standards (Survey, Hot Work, Preservation)
  • Solid working knowledge of ship systems
  • A proactive, safety-first mindset and the ability to lead by example
