Job Description Operative - Civils Rochford Permanent/Full time Competitive Salary plus company benefits. Operatives are to assist in the delivery of on-site project works to a safe, compliant and to a high standard of workmanship. You will play a vital role in supporting the operational activities necessary for the delivery of utility services to our customers. The operative will be responsible to the Lead Operative More about the role: To work safely at all times and ensure the safety of all those working around them. To comply with the requirements of the company policies, procedures and relevant risk assessments and method statements. To report all accidents, incidents and near misses. To attend Stand Downs, Team Briefs and Toolbox Talks. Follow instructions from the Lead Operative or site supervisor / site manager to complete tasks efficiently. Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment as required. To attend training and update courses as required. Keep the work area clean, organised, and free from hazards. To assist with accurately recording details of work undertaken. Operate plant and machinery (where trained and certified). To represent the company in a professional manner at all times to ensure customer satisfaction. Work closely with other team members, including engineers and supervisors, to coordinate workflow and achieve operational objectives. Operate and maintain hand tools and power tools required for drainage work. Interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner. Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met. To maintain the equipment in a serviceable condition at all times Qualifications About you: Previous experience in drainage or civils construction. CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme). Good understanding of health and safety practices on construction sites. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Physically fit and able to carry out manual labour. Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. Willingness to travel to various sites (working away)and work flexible hours. Strong understanding of drainage systems. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Full UK driving licence. Desirable: CPCS or NPORS certification for plant operation (e.g., excavator, dumper). Streetworks qualification (NRSWA). Confined space training. First Aid certification. Good IT skills including ability to use mobile devices such as Mobile Phones
