The role of the Project Engineer is pivotal to our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The role will conduct thorough site analyses, ensure high standards of field service operations, represent the company in client meetings, and manage escalated incidents. This role requires a strong technical background in flow surveys, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

More about the role:

  • Technical: Conduct in-depth analysis of escalated sites using various databases and technologies to identify resolution paths. Liaise internally and externally to maintain effective technical responses and actions for any issues raised, reviews, or investigations, including planning, data report provision. Work with the Data team to perform detailed technical reviews of any elements of a flow survey raised by internal departments, management, or clients. Triage issues, provide solutions and manage client communications.
  • Field Services Assurance: Ensure high standards in field activities, including new installations and maintenance activities. Conduct field audits to verify compliance with standards. Conduct reviews of installation photographs and provide feedback to installers. Ensure all health and safety standards are met in the field, including PPE standards, working in the highway, and other essential H&S protocols. Contribute to continuous improvement in field operations with a focus on efficiency, quality and first-time fix. Provide support, advice and best in class training for Technicians to ensure highest quality surveys are achieved. Have line management responsibility for between 12-20 direct field services employees. Conduct 1-1 reviews with allocated staff. Performance and P and L responsibility for flow contracts and projects. Act as the delivery representative for all Flow Projects, representing Detectronic/Adler Allan. Liaise with clients on technical and maintenance activities, working towards resolutions. Collaborate with internal and external entities on futureproofing, delivery, installation, testing, and acceptance of new designs and technologies. Attend contract performance meetings.
  • Operational support: Provide support to crews needing on-site assistance or advice regarding their assignments. Create Policy, Plans, and Process documentation to guide operational activities. Serve as the company representative for second-line major incident escalation, managing all actions in accordance with established processes. Support planning and data team representatives to ensure the client receives the best possible service. Provide analysis of aborted jobs to help drive continuous improvement in this area. Spotting trends and root causes. With an overall aim in reducing aborts. Drive performance with crew with a focus on ensuring KPI’s and delivery targets are met including, glide path of installations, no missed appointments with modellers and no data lost due to poor installation. Set realistic objectives for staff working on projects so they all have a clear understanding and goal. Produce relevant documentation for process improvements. Ensure all crew have the kit and equipment they require each time they visit a site to encourage a right first time approach.

Qualifications About you:

  • A good knowledge of services pertaining to Adler & Allan group wide offering.
  • Tenacity, durability and able to demonstrate resilience with a positive attitude to change.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • PC based IT skills - Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
  • Proven track record of technical delivery.
  • Strong planning and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage and influence a skilled multidisciplinary team.
  • High level of organisational skills.
  • Possession of a clean UK driving licence and Right to Work in the UK.
  • Minimum H and S qualification of IOSH managing safety.
  • Knowledge of the water sector.
  • Experience in managing field and desk-based operatives and leadership teams in matrix organisations.
  • Knowledge of wastewater networks.
  • Knowledge and experience in completing flow surveys.
  • Ability to create bespoke solutions based on customer needs from the suite of Adler & Allan solutions and services.
  • A Criminal Record Check will be required due to the environments in which the postholder will operate.
