The role is predominantly site‑based, with time allocated for reporting and project coordination. You’ll play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance during construction phases across a range of projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the on‑site environmental/ecological advisor
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental commitments, planning conditions, and legislation
  • Supporting pollution prevention and environmental best practice
  • Delivering toolbox talks and engaging site teams
  • Collecting water quality samples and monitoring site performance
  • Attending and contributing to site meetings
  • Producing clear and accurate ECoW logs and reports
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and project managers
  • Supporting surveys, documentation, and environmental planning
  • Contributing to Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs)
  • Working closely with senior ecologists and project teams
  • Playing an active role in our ECoW community of practice

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an ECoW, EnvCoW or Environmental Advisor role
  • Strong report writing skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong health & safety awareness and site experience
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Membership of CIEEM (or working towards)
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Knowledge of UK environmental legislation and guidance
  • Experience with protected species (support available if not)
  • Project management skills with the ability to deliver to time and budget
