Job Description

Working within the planned commercial team, and being driven by the Intermediate Quantity Surveyor, the Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the day to day management of commercial requirements within the business such as:

  • Assisting the commercial team with administering the contract as and where required
  • Supporting the preparation and updating of internal project forecasts
  • Assisting with the CVR process
  • Assisting with the preparation of applications for payment
  • Supporting the commercial team with building compensation event quotations and recovering value where entitled
  • Preparing and issuing subcontract orders and assisting with subcontract management across the projects as required
  • Preparing final accounts and assisting with the substantiation of audit requests
  • Visiting sites and attending meetings as and where required

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND in Construction or a related subject or desire to undertake this
  • CSCS
  • Use of Microsoft Excel
  • Previous experience with a cost management system
  • Strong understanding of basic quantity surveying principles, including measurement, cost control, and valuation
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and method statements
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts (particularly NEC4), including early warnings, compensation events, and payment mechanisms
  • Ability to assist with preparing applications for payment, variations, final accounts and subcontractor accounts
  • Ability to manage workload efficiently and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Knowledge and previous application of subcontract management including drafting subcontract orders
