The Family Paralegal provides essential support to legal professionals specialising in family law. The role involves preparing documentation, conducting legal research, liaising with clients, and managing case files. The post holder ensures that all tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner to assist solicitors in delivering a high standard of legal service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and draught legal documents including court forms, statements, witness statements, and correspondence related to family law matters such as divorce, child arrangements, financial settlements, and domestic abuse.
- Conduct detailed legal research to support case preparation and advise on relevant legislation and case law.
- Liaise professionally and sensitively with clients, court officials, barristers, and other external parties to gather necessary information and provide updates.
- Manage and maintain accurate and organised case files, ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of court bundles and trial documentation, ensuring all materials are complete and presented clearly.
- Support fee earners by scheduling appointments, managing diaries, and organising meetings.
- Monitor deadlines and court dates, ensuring timely submission of documents and responses.
- Provide administrative support including filing, photocopying, and handling telephone and email enquiries.
- Keep up to date with developments in family law and related procedures to maintain knowledge relevant to the role.
