The Family Fee Earner undertakes a wide range of family law matters, providing clear and expert legal advice to clients. The role involves managing caseloads efficiently, preparing legal documents, and representing clients in a sensitive and professional manner. The position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external parties.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and support to clients on family law matters including divorce, financial settlements, child arrangements, adoption, and domestic violence.
  • Prepare and draught legal documents such as petitions, statements of case, consent orders, and financial statements.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are kept informed of progress.
  • Conduct client interviews and maintain professional and empathetic client relationships.
  • Negotiate settlements and liaise with opposing parties, courts, and other agencies.
  • Attend court hearings and mediations as required, representing the interests of clients under supervision or independently where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with firm procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Keep abreast of developments in family law and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and professional standards.
  • Support the wider legal team in developing efficient processes and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience working in Legal Aid would be beneficial/preferred.
