Location: Longhorsley, NE65 8QY (Holiday home country park / food-led pub)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Year-Round

Salary: £15–£17 per hour (depending on experience)

Working Pattern: 5 days out of 7, up to 50 hours per week. Regular weekend working and Bank Holidays (as required in the hospitality industry).

Role Overview: A hands-on Head Chef is required to lead the kitchen at our busy, food-led pub with a strong reputation for quality food, friendly service, and repeat custom. This is an opportunity within a growing, family-run business where pride in food, consistency, and teamwork are essential. You will manage day-to-day kitchen operations while maintaining high standards in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the kitchen team on a daily basis (hands-on cooking required)
  • Deliver high-quality, consistent food aligned with our established standards
  • Oversee stock control, deliveries, and portion control to support food cost management
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and compliance with food hygiene and safety regulations
  • Maintain service efficiency during peak periods; able to work well under pressure
  • Contribute to menus and specials (where appropriate), keeping quality and value at the forefront
  • Train, support, and develop kitchen staff; foster a positive, hardworking culture
  • Coordinate kitchen workflow to ensure smooth service across food orders
  • Support weekend and Bank Holiday trade with reliable cover and leadership

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a Head Cook / Kitchen Manager / Sous Chef (or similar)
  • Strong kitchen leadership and the ability to motivate a team
  • Demonstrated ability to produce quality food to a consistently high standard
  • Experience working in a busy environment with effective time management
  • Sound knowledge of food hygiene practices and safe working procedures
  • Reliable, professional attitude and a genuine pride in workmanship
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends and on Bank Holidays
